Mochi is a special little guy in our cattery; he was part of one of our earliest litters, and from the beginning, his big, round head made him stand out. This past winter, he returned to us for boarding, and it was wonderful to see how much he had grown and how thoroughly his new family had spoiled him. That signature “British Shorthair big head” is still his most distinct feature. I have to admit, when he stayed with us, I couldn’t resist giving his chubby cheeks a little squeeze several times a day—his cuteness is just too hard to resist!
Whether as a kitten or an adult, Mochi has never stopped running around the house, always curious about everything from breakfast to dinner to my coffee cup. He’s even developed a quirky taste for romaine lettuce, which his family confirmed! Mochi is such a funny boy—he loves to play energetically and then settles down for some petting or food like a little gentleman. But don’t let that adorable face fool you; he’s got a mischievous side, too!
Mochi was a British Blue for sale in the winter of 2023 and was reserved by a lovely couple from Boston who treat him like their son. They absolutely adore him and have started spoiling him, just like many of our customers do. Mochi is very affectionate and doesn’t like to be left alone or confined indoors, so they decided to adopt a companion for him. In 2024, they welcomed Yuzu, who happens to be from the same parents as Mochi but a different litter. Yuzu and Mochi look alike in many ways but each has their own unique charm.
Now, after spending three months together, Mochi seems to “tolerate” his little sister, as their family put it, even though he sometimes playfully “picks on” her. Yuzu, however, doesn’t mind; she loves being around him. It seems spoiled boys like Mochi always end up with sweet little sisters who adore them. But at least Mochi isn’t lonely anymore—though he does look for a quiet spot now and then to find a little peace!
We’re really looking forward to having Mochi and Yuzu back with us for boarding again. I can’t wait to cuddle them both!
